Holly Ross, the director’s assistant at the National Museum of Fashion, is crushed when the coveted curator’s position goes to Sammie Kittenplatt, a uber connected socialite. Holly was ready to accept defeat until Sammie embarrasses her in front of Denis King, a wealthy museum donor (Sammie changes the presentation and Holly ends up calling Denis King, Penis King!). Steaming from the experience, Holly challenges her boss to make her curator if she can raise $1 million while doing a speaking engagement on a super luxurious cruise ship.
Holly goes on the adventure of a lifetime as she gives a speech on the history of underwear while she is barely wearing anything at all, gets chased overseas by her Director and Sammie when couture dresses go missing, and gets a second chance to make a good first impression when she realizes that Denis King is also on the cruise.
This is a great beach read! There are a lot of Audrey Hepburn references, but Holly does work at the National Museum of Fashion. The pacing was good; I was never bored. And although the book was predictable at times, Holly Would Dream was still very entertaining. If you are looking for a light summer read, pick up this title. In my opinion, The Ivy Chronicles is Karen Quinn’s best novel.
If you could travel anywhere in the world on a luxurious cruise ship, where would you go?
