 Julia Rachel Barrett

 My Everything

 5/5 Stars

Overall, this is a grand slam title for Julia Rachel Barrett, and I absolutely recommend My Everything to anyone who enjoys a well-crafted novel.

I don’t think I ever stood a chance against Julia Rachel Barrett’s My Everything. The cover is definitely eye catching! It is provocative, sensual, and has no problem standing out in a crowd. But don’t get too mesmerized because the story Barrett writes in the pages that follow is nothing short of amazing! Barrett wastes no time pulling you into her world. From Ben’s coded phone calls to his friend and co-worker Tom to the multiple identities and residences Ben has set up in different countries, you immediately see how deep into the security world Ben is in and the depths of his expertise. Yet all of that knowledge doesn’t stop someone from kidnapping Ben’s sibling and asking for a trade: his life for hers.

I was on the edge of my seat for the entire novel. I couldn’t help but play detective and try to uncover who the kidnapper was and how this person was related to Ben. I also couldn’t stop myself from reading (and rereading) the passion that ignites from Ben and Grace. The sex is scorching hot. Not only are the love-making scenes written terrifically, but you truly get a sense of how much Ben and Grace care for one another. This adds layers of intensity to the novel making this a story that includes sex, not a story about sex.

Barrett has a fantastic writing style. It is very fluid and easy to read. I love how she fills every page with action, driving the story as well as the characters throughout the book without any excess filler or fat. I also appreciated how Barrett doesn’t introduce too many characters in her novel. I really got to know Ben and Grace on a personal level, and became quite invested in their happiness. Overall, this is a grand slam title for Julia Rachel Barrett, and I absolutely recommend My Everything to anyone who enjoys a well-crafted novel.

WOWZA!! That cover doesn’t leave much to the imagination ;o) BTW – I ordered my Kindle!!!! It should be arriving shortly and it’s all thanks to you and your fab e-reader series! I hope to be much more consistent with my reading now that I don’t have to worry about lugging around a heavy book!

As for hair, I’ve always wanted red hair and I absolutely LURVE Hayley, so I’ll have to agree with your choice, though I don’t think red hair will be too hard to spot if you’re trying to hide behind a secret identity 🙂

I know that cover will definitely knock you on your backside! I’m so glad that you ordered your Kindle. That is so so so exciting! And I am really happy that you found my e-reader series useful. I know that you will fall in love with carring around hundreds of e-books on your kindle to view at your whim. And with more giveaways coming up on the blog, it’s the perfect time to start filling your library with free books!

I’m with you about Hayley’s hair, but you bring up a good point. I guess I was too excited about the hair and forgot about my secret identity. Whoops! Lol.

Thank you so much and I’m so glad you loved the book – I am totally in love with Ben and Grace. Both of them are so courageous and they have such passion bottled up inside. Yes, Jimmy Thomas gives good covers! LOL!

I love how Grace was able to hold her own against such craziness in this novel. A strong heroine always gets to me. I’ll have to take a look at more Jimmy Thomas covers. Lol. I loved My Everything Julia!

    Hi Julia & Hi Zee!
Two wounded souls coming together… now that sounds like a good read! I love a good ‘whodunnit’ so I’ll have to put this one the wishlist.

That hair color choice is awesome Zee! I think it is a very pretty color… very attention grabbing, but not in an off-putting sort of way. I have naturally dark brown/black hair myself and my hairdresser has these fantastic shades of dark blue and purple streaked throughout hers, so I think I might try that. It looks really awesome on her.

Interesting hair color! I’m picturing an anime character with blue or purple hair. If I didn’t go with the red hair, I think I’d like an anime silver color, kind of like when Halle Berry played Storm in the X-Men movies.

Since I already have red/auburn hair, I’d have to go blond, I guess. I look awful with black hair!

My Everything sounds like a wonderful read. The blurb drew me right in.

And if I had to change my hair color for a passport pic, I’d probably go burgundy. lol.

I can see why you’d go for that hair color. It’s gorg! I would prob keep my own, but add some caramel highlights!

Wowza, look at that cover 😉 I would dye my hair blonde!
