Hand of Fate

5/5 Stars

“This whirlwind romance is action packed, adventurous, and also has a bit of humor that made turning the pages of this short very satisfying!”

Favorite Character

Even though thee were not many characters in this drama filled novel, I felt like I really connected with Karina Withers. She is a woman with a strong spirit who is not afraid to have courage when the situation calls for it. It is her courage to take action when times get intense that drew me to Karina Withers the most.

Favorite Scene

I laughed so hard when Karina knocked a thief out with her purse. Women’s purses often reflect carry on luggage in weight and size, so I found it rather funny when karina used her purse to stop a thief from stealing another woman’s purse while standing in line to buy tickets to a movie. And when I read that the reason Karina’s purse was so effective is because there was a brick on the bottom of it, it made me laugh that much harder.

Quotable Quote

“Here I was thinking to protect you, but I’m not sure you ever needed my help. Son of a gun. You put his lights out.” He laughed. Karina smiled and then burst into laughter. She opened her purse,  showed him the brick nestled in the bottom. “I’m tired of violence and, since I don’t carry a gun, I thought this might come in handy.”

Final Thoughts

Lisa Alexander-Griffin is one of my very favorite authors because writes powerful stories that stay with you even after time has gone by. With her collection of phenomenal titles, I was not surprised that I loved Hand of Fate right away. Hand of Fate is an action packed tale with a story line that runs quite deep for a short. I loved Karina’s whirlwind romance with Josh. Those two were meant to be together, but I also appreciated that this was no Cinderella tale, and how Karina and Josh really communcated their feelings to overcome adversity. It was their leap of faith that made this short really shine! For those of you interested in reading more by Lisa, I strongly recommend Danielle’s Touch and Shattered Illusions, both of which I have reviewed.
